Comedians Tim Heidecker and Gregg Turkington AKA Neil Hamburger Hit Fresh VHS with the release of DECKER VS. DRACULA!
If you’re a fan of Adult Swim regulars Tim Heidecker (Tim and Eric Awesome Show) and Greg Turkington (AKA Neil Hamburger), then chances are you’re already familiar with their web series, On Cinema, and its action adventure parody spin-off, Decker. You might have even come across the aborted third season, Decker Vs. Dracula, but what you might not know is that you can now own the whole thing on fresh VHS!
The VHS release of DECKER VS. DRACULA, which will arrive at your door in a full color slipcase, smelling of revenge and bloodlust. Snag it.
Decker was first introduced as the brainchild of Heidecker’s uber-conservative On Cinema persona before it came to life as its own series. It’s hero, Jack Decker, is the ultimate terrorist-killer, and aesthetically, the show is a send-up of zero-budget film making; virtually all of it is shot in front of a green screen and later set against what are probably stock 90s computer animations. From its inception, Decker was a totally bonkers exercise in meta-comedy, but Decker Vs. Dracula took it to a whole new level when Heidecker and Turkington decided to scrap the production over creative differences after just four episodes. Their feud culminated in a blow-out fight that was caught on camera for the documentary Decker Vs. Dracula: Behind the Truth. I don’t know if the documentary is included on the video release, but considering Heidecker previously sought to remove Decker Vs. Dracula from the internet all together, any release is welcome.
Largest VHS collection in North America, you say!? We'll believe when we VHSee it!! And we wanna VHSee it!
In addition to Heidecker and Turkington, Decker Vs. Dracula features the endearing talents of Joe Estevez as President Jason Davidson, and the acting comeback of legendary bad boy James Dean as Dracula! Sure, you could watch the whole thing for free online, but if ever there was a hero destined to be immortalized on magnetic tape, Jack Decker is him. So what are you waiting for, Tapeheads?! Move your caboose on over to the Decker Vs. Dracula site and grab that slab, man! Who knows how long they’ll last!?
