Here’s some exciting news for all you VHSkaters out there! Some of you may recall a line of skate decks from NY-based skate outfit 5BORO celebrating the artwork of home-record VHS blanks from the 90s, but the super-gnar dudes over at Deathwish Skateboards have just kicked the video cover love up to another level. They’re issuing an insanely awesome line of decks aptly entitled the VHS Wasteland line, featuring cover art from flicks like the DEATH FACES, ARMY OF DARKNESS, TOXIC ZOMBIES, and of course, the bad-ass Bronson essential DEATH WISH!     The Official Advert from DEATHWISH for the...

Calder Greenwood is on a mission. When he’s not copping cardboard from wherever he can to create interactive art installations or crazy-cool movie props, he’s endeavoring to be a one-man force not averse to enlisting help from whoever is willing, out to create the films he insists should exist. Calder has forged ahead with that distinct indie gusto, tossing aside those hard and fast rules of Hollywood and created his first two short films L.A. Ninja and Hologram Cop with the express intention of emulating that authentic video era essence. He wants you to feel as if these were films...

It is perhaps the most essential, ubiquitous and largely unconsidered item when it comes to the Videovore world: the classic VHS logo. Admittedly, it’s an easy thing to take for granted. I mean, it’s just about the aesthetic equivalent of a stop sign: it’s a symbol that has definite meaning and function, but is so commonly encountered, that applying any sort of artistic merit doesn’t necessarily come to mind. The only difference is, when we see the VHS symbol, it’s always a go. That’s just a no-brainer.     The Absolute Classic. Man, I love these three little letters.  ...
