Slime was one of the coolest things about growing up in the 80's. Sure, there was a plethora of terrible glam hair bands, heavy metal denim jackets, awful synth-pop music, and plenty of cocaine during the decade of decadence. But nothing represented youthful innocence & freedom quite like GREEN SLIME! This entry is a tribute to the gooey, sticky green stuff that made being a kid so much fun. I don't know It all started for me sometime in the early part of the 80's, when I watched You Can't Do That On Television religiously; if you aren't familiar with...

My absolute favorite genre in the exploitation canon is the giallo. As other like-minded giallophiles out there will undoubtedly agree, one of the things that makes it sheer bliss to be a fan of the giallo is the outrageously expansive catalogue of films to choose from. Primarily, I love the sci-fi pulps of the 40's and 50's for the same reason I am passionate about VHS horror: the secret history of the genre. These volumes are full of the stories that didn’t make the cut at becoming classics and have since drifted into obscurity, but undoubtedly, for better or worse, shaped the future of the genre in very real and tangible ways. An added bonus, however, is the treasure trove of advertisements that accompany these stories from which we can learn quite a bit about the time and context in which they were published, as well...

It all started two years ago . . . I was visiting family in the great state of Oregon and the local Mom & Pop video store closed. They were selling off all of their DVDs and VHS tapes. Even though I was out of work and money was an issue, I couldn’t help myself. I stepped in the door, died, and found VHS heaven! I had no idea they had so many cool flicks! Of course they didn’t . . . See there’s a company based in Vancouver, WA called Movie Movers. They have two stores in Vancouver and...
