More than a few Videovores may be familiar with a mysterious slab of magnetic magic that’s been floating around within the analog-sphere over the past few years: a white videocassette smeared and splattered with a blood red something or other, eerily inviting you to experience its contents with the words “WATCH ME” painfully scrawled across the face of the tape. That mystical vagabond video is the work of none other than indie filmmaker Joe Stauffer. A version of that hand-bloodied video is still available via his website, but now stands as a groovy VHSupplement to his newest cinematic concoction (and...

While recently running one of my routine groovy stuff scans on the world weird web, a post from fellow Tapehead and indie filmmaker Matty Calhoun nearly yanked my eyes right outta my gourd. The images he unleashed featured one of the most analog alluring hand drawn video covers I'd ever seen. It emitted a visual essence that screamed next-level obscurity and utter low-budget excellence. I had to find out what Treasure of the Ninja was all about. After a quick chat with Matty, turns out he was in touch with the maker of this slab of martial arts magnetic magic...

A wave of analog excitement recently washed over the world weird web after the Lunchmeat VHS Fanzine Facebook page flashed a look at a most groovy gift I received from artist extraordinaire and all around radical dude Donny Robinson. DR’s rendering of a Media release Mother’s Day VHS box into a thrashin’ 3D pop-up sculpture is just one of the many slip case alterations he’s been shelling out; and as you’ll observe throughout this post, he’s sure to garner a lot more attention should Videovores sink their teeth into his array of analog casing cut-ups and other artistic creations. This...

The VHSubscribers to this here analog-obsessed slab o’ internet might recall a recent story on some radical riffs being committed to anti-digital glory with Will Mecca’s Paranoid Anxieties, and it looks like fans of live rock n’ roll and punk rock oddities have another new analog entity to get stoked about with Adam Papagan’s Viper Video. An experienced analog cameraman and seasoned surveyor of punk rock shows, Papagan is on a mission to capture that inimitable organic live experience and preserve those musical moments in time via magnetic magic. His Viper brand has been impressively prolific in its relatively short...
