It’s approaching quicker than you think, my fellow Videovores! In just about 2 months, the most rewind radical VHS-lovin’ event on the East Coast will be set to VHSwing open its doors and attract Tapeheads from across the analog-inclined landscape. This year’s SEVERED will be held on Saturday, May 28th at the Sherman Theater in Stroudsburg, PA and will offer the 7th Annual Short Film Night along with the 5th Annual Horror VHS Collectors Unite! For the uninitiated, SEVERED is host to a Short Film Competition that celebrates a slew of indie short films of the horror persuasion, and offers a chance to win the coveted Audience Choice Award. What’s that? You’ve got a short film you want entered into the mix? Man, you gotta submit! Here’s all the official info below: Submit your short horror film for SEVERED'S 7th Annual Short Film Night to see if you have what it takes to win the coveted AUDIENCE CHOICE AWARD! RULES AND INFO: No fee for entering - It's free! Must be of the horror genre. No minimum length, maximum length 25 mins. Short films can be of any motion picture medium, including animation. All films must be original works of / owned by the submitter. Winners must be present to win the Audience Choice Award. Awards can be accepted on another's behalf, but SEVERED must be notified when the film is submitted. TO ENTER: To enter a short film, drop off a machine playable DVD (and a backup) to the Sherman Theater Box Office - 524 Main St. Stroudsburg PA, or mail your submission to: Earl Kess / Severed 615 Center St. Bangor, PA 18013 Please Include your name, (as director/creator of the work) contact info, title of the film, and duration of the film. And beyond the bitchin’ indie horror sights offered by the Short Film Night, there will be FOUR awesome features on the big screen including MUTILATIONS (presented by Massacre Video), NINJA ZOMBIE (presented by Bleeding Skull! Video), FRANKENSTEIN: THE TRUE STORY (presented by Lunchmeat), & IN FURS (presented by Hallows Eve Films and Secret Lair)! PLUS! THE HORROR BOOBS GAMESHOW, an all-new display from THE MUSEUM OF VHS, surprise guests, beer specials, and all the bodacious blood, guts, gore and absolute VHS madness you can handle! And last but certainly not least, dude, this year’s SEVERED marks the 5th Annual Horror VHS Collectors Unite Convention! Yes, the online forum originally created by Earl Kess will come to life with Tapeheads aplenty and all kinds of video vindicators and VHSlingers manning tables equipped with an array of groovy SEVERED exclusives from tapes to trinkets to who knows what! Yours Truly and LUNCHMEAT will be in attendance with a handful of too groovy event exclusives (so VHStay tuned for updates on that!) and while the place is sure to be packed with multiple purveyors of tape already, there are still a few vendor tables left. They are very limited, though, so if you wanna get behind a table at this year’s SEVERED, groove to the Official Sherman Theater website and reserve it today, man! You can also reserve your tickets for the event to be sent via mail or picked up at will-call! The choice is yours, dude! Vendor Tables are set at $40, tickets for admission are $10 online, and $13 day of the show! This will be the VHS Party of the year, no doubt, Tapeheads. So many tapes. So many rewind-inclined peeps.
